BEN'S HOMEMADE SPAGHETTI SAUCE 
1 1/2 to 2 lbs. lean ground beef
1 pkg. (1.5 oz.) spaghetti sauce mix
1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste
1 (12 oz.) can whole tomatoes
1 clove garlic
1 lg. onion
2 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. salt and pepper
1 tsp. paprika
5 to 6 oz. hot or mild picante salsa

Brown beef in large pot and drain beef well. Peel and slice garlic and onion and place in blender. Except for ground beef, place all other ingredients to include a cup of water in blender. Cover blender, chop ingredients first and then blend until thickened. Add contents of blender to ground beef and cook on medium heat for approximately 30 minutes. More water and spices may be added as per your taste. Chopped green peppers, mushrooms or German or Italian sausage may be added to sauce while cooking. Yields: Approximately 2 quarts.
