PAT'S HUSH PUPPIES 
2 lbs. cornmeal (3-Rivers preferable)
2 c. buttermilk
1 med. onion (chopped into sm. pieces)
Crisco
1 egg
2 tbsp. sugar

Mix all ingredients. If mixture is too thick, add more buttermilk. Drop by teaspoons into hot Crisco oil or grease. Grease needs to cover hush puppies (use Fry Daddy, if you have it). Keep turned until brown. Take out and put on paper towel. Yum-yum!
