MOLASSES SUGAR COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening (Crisco)
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. Brer Rabbit molasses
1 egg
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

Melt shortening in 3 or 4 quart saucepan over low heat. Remove; let cool. Add sugar, molasses, and egg; beat well. Sift together flour, salt, soda, and spices; add to first mixture. Mix well. Chill. Form in to 1 inch balls; roll in granulated sugar and place on greased cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
