BANANA OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1 c. mashed bananas
1 3/4 c. rolled oats
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Sift together flour, baking soda, salt and spices. Beat shortening until creamy. Add sugar gradually and continue beating until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Add rolled oats, bananas and nutmeats and mix thoroughly. Add flour mixture and blend. Drop on greased cookie sheet and bake in moderately hot oven (375 degrees) for about 15 minutes.
