CARAMEL APPLE WALNUT SQUARES | |
1 3/4 c. unsifted flour 1 c. quick oats 1/2 c. packed brown sugar 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. cold butter 1 c. chopped walnuts 20 caramels 1 (14 oz.) can Eagle Brand sweetened milk 1 (21 oz.) can apple pie filling Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In large bowl combine flour, oats, sugar, soda and salt. Cut butter until crumbly. Reserve 1 1/2 cups crumb mixture. Press remaining on to bottom of 13 x 9 inch pan. bake 15 minutes. Add walnuts to your reserved crumb mixture. In heavy saucepan over low heat melt caramels with milk. Stir until smooth. Spread apple pie filling or crust. Top with caramel mixture. Then add reserve mixture. Bake 20 minutes. Cool. Serve with ice cream. |
