SPAGHETTI SAUCE | |
1/2 c. corn oil 1 1/4 tsp. black pepper 4 med. onions, diced 3 garlic cloves, chopped 3 bay leaves, finely cut 2 tsp. oregano 1/4 tsp. (scant) basil 12 c. tomatoes (fresh are fine), skinned and chopped 3 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste 5 tsp. salt 5 tbsp. brown sugar Combine oil, pepper and onions; and cook until onions are transparent. Add all other ingredients, except sugar, and continue cooking. Cook sauce for at least 2 - 2 1/2 hours, adding the sugar the last hour. Pour into sterilized jars and seal, or freeze. |
