2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. melted & cooled butter
1 slightly beaten egg

TOPPING:

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. melted butter
1/2 c. chopped nuts (opt.)

Sift together dry ingredients. Add buttermilk, butter, and egg; mix well. Turn into greased 9"x9" pan. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle over batter. Bake in 350 degree oven until done approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Double this for 13"x9" pan.
