APPLE DUMPLINGS
1 recipe pastry for double crust pie
6 sm. apples, peeled and cored
1/2 c. and 1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. and 2 tbsp. butter, melted
1 c. water
1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar

Roll pastry to an 18 x 12 inch rectangle. Cut in 6 (6 inch) squares. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Dip apples in melted butter, then in sugar mixture. Place on pastry squares. Sprinkle remaining sugar mixture in center of apples. Add a few raisins, if desired. Moisten edges of pastry. Bring up corners to top of apple; seal edges together. Prick. Place in 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes.

Combine water and remaining butter. Pour over dumplings. Reduce heat to 375 degrees and bake 40 to 50 minutes, or until apples are tender. Serve warm with cream.
