BERNESE BEEF STEW 
1 1/2 lb. stew meat
1/2 lb. bacon, cut up
1 onion, chopped
3 tbsp. flour
4 c. beef consomme
1 lg. carrot, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 tbsp. tomato paste
Salt
Pepper
1 1/2 lb. potatoes, cubed
Parsley

Brown bacon and onion in large skillet. Remove and brown beef. Transfer beef, bacon and onion to stew pot. Stir flour into remaining fat in skillet. Gradually add consomme. Cook and stir until smooth. Pour sauce over meat and onion. Add remaining ingredients and simmer until meat is tender.
