CHOCOLATE CHIP PECAN BARS 
2 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1/3 c. butter
3 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Add the flour together with the salt and baking powder, beat well. Add the vanilla, chocolate chips, and pecans. Stir in well. Pour batter into 10 x 15 pan (or 14 x 10). Bake at 350 degrees, 25-30 minutes. Do not overbake. Frost with melted chocolate chips or powdered sugar frosting. (Add 5 minutes of baking time if you use a 14 x 10 pan.)
