KATIE'S GREAT GRANDMA'S APPLE CRISP | |
3 c. sliced apples 3/4 tsp. cinnamon 3/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 c. cold water 1 c. flour 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. butter Pinch of salt Put the following in a shallow baking pan: 3 c. sliced apples 3/4 tsp. cinnamon (sprinkled on sliced apples) 3/4 tsp. nutmeg (sprinkled on sliced apples) 1/2 c. cold water Combine the following into a crumbly mixture and cover the apples: 1 c. flour 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. butter Pinch of salt This recipe is served every thanksgiving and Christmas at our house. It is great with ice cream or whipped cream. During the summer we substitute blueberries for apples. They are seasoned just with lemon (we don't use any cinnamon or nutmeg). Brown sugar is substituted for white. |
