1/4 c. lukewarm water 1 cake yeast 1 egg 1/3 c. butter 1 1/2 c. dry milk 1/3 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 5 c. flour 1 qt. oil for frying Let yeast cake (or dry) soak in the 1/4 cup lukewarm water until it dissolves. Pour onto dry ingredients and add the 1 1/2 cups liquid in which dry milk has been dissolved. Add more water if dough appears dry or add more flour if it's too sticky. Dough must be not sticky, but not hard - just manageable. Let set an hour or so. Pinch pieces size of baseball. Roll out thin (1/16 inch). Cut in wedges and drop into hot oil. |
