BROWN BREAD 
8-10 c. flour

SPONGE:

1 c. lukewarm water
1 c. white flour
1 cake yeast or 1 pkg. dry yeast

BATTER:

3 c. hot water
2 c. (generous) All Bran cereal
6 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. salt
6 tbsp. sugar
1/3 c. molasses

Mix ingredients for sponge and let rise for 1 hour. Mix ingredients for batter. Add sponge to batter. Add enough flour (8-10 cups) to make a stiff dough. Should not be sticky when you knead it. Knead for 6-8 minutes. Let rise for 2 hours. Shape into 3-4 loaves, depending on the size of the pan. Let rise 1 hour. Bake 15 minutes at 375 degrees. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 45 minutes longer.
