SPICY PEPPARKAKOR 
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
3 tsp. cinnamon
1-2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cloves
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp. dark Karo syrup

Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon, ginger and cloves. In separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Add unbeaten egg and syrup. Add dry ingredients gradually, mixing thoroughly for easier handling dough. Roll out on floured surface 1/4 at a time to 1/8" thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutter. Place on lightly greased sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 5 to 8 minutes. Remove from baking sheet immediately. Frost with melted white bark.
