CALIFORNIA PINTO BEANS 
1 lb. pinto beans
1/4 lb. bacon, diced
1 c. onion, diced
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cloves of garlic, minced
Chicken stock

Put beans in a 2 quart saucepan, cover with water, bring to a boil for 3 minutes. Turn off heat, let beans stand for 1 hour. Pour off water. Add all remaining ingredients and cook about one hour. Taste and correct seasonings to your taste.
