HALF MOON COOKIES 
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
3/4 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sour milk

Cream the shortening and sugar. Beat eggs and vanilla together until light and fluffy and add to the creamed shortening and sugar. Sift the dry ingredients and add to the mixture alternately with sour milk.

Drop by tablespoons on greased baking sheet.

Bake at 375°F for 12 to 15 minutes.

FROSTING:

1 pound confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 tsp. vanilla extract (clear vanilla)
3 tbsp. boiling water

Beat all ingredients together in large bowl. Add more hot water if necessary to make a good spreading consistency. Remove two cups of frosting from bowl and set aside for chocolate frosting. Melt two squares of chocolate and mix in. Frost with white and chocolate frosting on each moon.

Makes 2 1/2 dozen.
