RAISIN BATTER BREAD 
2/3 c. hot water
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
2 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 c. lukewarm water
1 egg, beaten
3 1/4 c. flour
1 c. seedless raisins

Combine water, sugar, salt, and shortening. Cool to lukewarm. Sprinkle yeast over the lukewarm water (not the lukewarm mixture). Stir to dissolve. Add to first mixture with remaining ingredients. Beat 2 minutes. Cover, let rise in warm place about 45 minutes. Beat batter about 30 seconds. Bake in preheated oven 400 degrees in greased loaf pan. Bake 40-45 minutes. Remove allow to cool.
