2 c. flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/2 tsp. salt Mix well before adding 1 cube (4 ounces) unsalted butter. Work in with pastry cutter (or fingers) until pea-sized pieces form. Stir in 1 cup raisins and 2 tablespoons sugar. Whisk together 1 egg yolk and 3/4 cup buttermilk and stir into mixture. Turn out dough onto floured surface and knead 10 to 12 times. Cut in half and pat each half into 6 inch circles. Slice each circle into 6 wedges. Transfer wedges in a circle onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 18 to 22 minutes until lightly browned. |
