NANAIMO BARS 
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. granulated sugar
5 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg, beaten
2 c. graham cracker crumbs
1 c. coconut
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/4 c. butter
3 tbsp. milk
2 tbsp. instant vanilla pudding
2 c. powdered sugar
4 sq. semi-sweet chocolate
1 tbsp. butter

Place 1/2 cup butter, granulated sugar, cocoa, vanilla, and egg in top of double boiler over hot water. Stir until butter melts and mix resembles custard. Combine graham cracker crumbs, coconut, and walnuts and blend. Add to cooked mixture. Pack firmly into 9 inch square pan. Press with fork or spatula.

Cream 1/4 cup butter. Add milk mixed with vanilla pudding mix. Blend in powdered sugar. Spread over chocolate base and let stand 15 minutes to harden. Melt the 4 squares of semi-sweet chocolate with remaining butter. Spread over custard icing. When set, cut into squares.
