BUTTER - CHIP COOKIES 
1 lb. butter or 1/2 butter and 1/2 butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 c. unsifted flour
1 1/2 c. chocolate chips (variation: 1 c. chips and 1/2 c. finely chopped pecans)

Cream butter; add salt and sugar. Mix well with mixer. Add flour, one cup at a time, mixing with wooden spoon. Add chips and drop by teaspoonful onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for about 15 minutes (edges and bottoms should be brown).
