MALCIMATION CAKE 
1 1/2 c. (3 sticks) butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. blackberry jam
4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. ground raisins

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, buttermilk, and jam, mixing well. Combine dry ingredients; add 1/4 at a time to sugar mixture. Mix well. Add pecans and raisins; mix very well. Pour into 4 (9-inch) cake pans. Bake at 350°F for 35 minutes or until well done.

FILLING:

4 eggs, beaten
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1 c. sweet milk
2 c. chopped pecans
2 c. ground raisins
2 c. ground fresh coconut

Combine eggs, sugar, butter, and milk; cook over low heat until thickened. Remove from heat; add pecans, raisins, and coconut. Mix well and spread on all layers of cake while warm.

Makes 1 large cake (4 layers) OR 2 cakes (2 layers each).

This is a very rich cake. My sister and I share a birthday (2 years apart) and this was my Dad's solution to baking each of us a cake. I would get a 2-layer cake and my sister would get the other 2-layers. He has baked us these cakes for over 40 years. The main thing to remember when making the cake is to have all the ingredients pre-measured before starting to assemble the cake. I have such wonderful memories of this cake.
