DEEP SOUTH APPLE PIE 
4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 tbsp. white vinegar
9 tbsp. water

FILLING:

1 lg. can apples (commercial)
2 lb. brown sugar
3 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. cornstarch
4 oz. rum

TOPPING:

12 oz. pecans
16 oz. oatmeal
24 oz. melted butter

Mix filling first. Set aside. Make the crust. Add filling to the crust, drain most of the liquids. Mix the topping in order given. Put on top of filling. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
