3 c. water
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 tsp. cloves
1 c. gumdrops (cut up with scissors)
4 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. nuts

Cook water, sugar, shortening and raisins together for 3 minutes. Cool. Add remaining ingredients, stir well. Bake in 350 degree oven in tube pan until well done (about 1 hour).
