NAVY BEAN SOUP 
2 sm. smoked ham hocks
2 c. dried white beans
1-2 bay leaves
2 qts. water
1 med. potato
Milk
1 onion, chopped
2-3 garlic cloves, minced
3-4 sprigs parsley
Pinch of thyme
Pepper to taste

Add ham hocks, beans and bay leaves to water and boil for 2 hours. Remove ham hocks; discard skin; dice meat and return to soup. Dice and boil potato; mash with a small amount of milk and add to soup along with onion, garlic, parsley and thyme. Simmer 45 minutes longer. Pepper to taste.
