CHOC-O-DATE DESSERT 
12 Oreo cookies, crushed
1 (8 oz.) pkg. (1 c.) pitted dates, cut up
3/4 c. water
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. tiny marshmallows or 16 lg., cut up
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. whipped cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Walnut halves

Reserve 1/4 cup cookie crumbs; spread remainder in 10 x 6 x 1 1/2 inch baking dish.

In saucepan, combine dates, water and salt; bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer 3 minutes. Remove from heat, add marshmallows and stir until melted. Cool to room temperature.

Stir in chopped nuts. Spread date mixture over crumbs in dish. Combine cream and vanilla; whip, swirl over dates. Sprinkle with reserved crumbs; top with walnut hales. Chill overnight. Cut in squares. Makes 8 servings.
