KOLACHES
1 1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. water
3/4 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. melted shortening
12 c. flour (about)
2 pkgs. dry yeast
1 tsp. sugar
1/3 c. lukewarm water

Any type of fruit can be used.

Soak dry yeast in warm water. Add 1 teaspoon sugar. Beat together the 3/4 cup sugar, eggs, and 5 cups flour. Mix in yeast mixture. Add shortening and salt. Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Knead; let rise to twice it's size. Punch down twice. Make dough into little balls enough for one kolach. Let rise on floured table. Stretch into 3 inch circles. Place 1 teaspoon filling in middle. Pull up ends and fold over. Place in oiled pan. Let rise until double. Bake at 350 degrees until brown.

PRUNE FILLING:

1 1/2 lbs. prunes, cook, pit, and grind
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix well. Cooked apples can be added to prunes. (This can be done the day before.)
