OATMEAL SPICE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. quick cooking oats
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. water
2 eggs
2 tbsp. dark molasses

Measure and mix all ingredients in large bowl; mix well. Pour into pan. Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees. (Pan should be 13"x9" greased and floured well.) Cool slightly. Spread topping over cake. Set oven at broil, place cake 3" from heat. Broil for 2 or 3 minutes, until golden brown.

COCONUT TOPPING:

2/3 c. brown sugar
1 c. melted butter
1/2 c. flaked coconut
1/2 c. chopped pecans
3 tbsp. light cream

Mix all ingredients and spread on slightly cooled cake. Follow directions in cake recipe.
