GRANOLA SNACK BARS 
1/2 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 c. light corn syrup
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. Quaker oats (quick or old fashioned uncooked)
1 (6 oz.) (1 c.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Generously grease 13 x 9 inch pan. In large bowl, beat butter, sugar and corn syrup until light and fluffy. Blend in egg and vanilla. Add oats and chocolate pieces; mix well.

Press firmly into prepared pan. Bake 20-23 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool on wire rack. Refrigerate 1 hour. Cut into 2 x 1 1/2 inch bars.

Note: Add 1/2 cup all-purpose flour to batter for old-fashioned oats.
