CHOCOLATE CHA CHA COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sour milk (2 tbsp. vinegar, add milk to make 1/2 c.)
2 squares chocolate
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar. Melt chocolate and cool; set aside. Add egg, vanilla and melted chocolate to mixture. Add flour, alternating with sour milk. Drop in teaspoonful on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Yield: 48 cookies.

ICING:

2 tbsp. butter
1 3/4 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. milk
1 square chocolate
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt chocolate, set aside. Cream butter, sugar, milk and vanilla. Add chocolate and beat until creamy. Ice the top of the cookie. May top with a maraschino cherry or walnut.
