CHOCOLATE CHUNK COOKIES 
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 c. Pillsbury's Best all purpose or unbleached flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
8 oz. (8 squares) semi - sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped, or 1 cup chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts

Heat oven to 375 degrees. In large bowl beat brown sugar, sugar, butter and shortening until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in chocolate and nuts. Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 9 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets. Makes 3 dozen cookies.
