SOPAPILLAS 
5 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. water

In a bowl mix flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening. Add water. If too dry add a little more water. Knead well. Form into balls and roll out on floured surface to about 8 inch circles. Fry in hot grease.

These can be sliced in half and stuffed with beans or chili con carne and garnished with grated cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. Or eat plain with honey or powdered sugar.
