BLITZ TORTE 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
Yolks of 4 eggs

Cream together.

5 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. plus 2 tbsp. flour
2 tsp. baking powder

Add to cream mixture. Blend well.

Bake in 2 buttered cake pans. Beat the 4 egg whites stiff and add 1 cup sugar a tablespoon or so at a time. Spread on dough and bake in a moderate oven. Fill with Custard Filling. These are the directions as I have them.

CUSTARD FILLING:

3 tbsp. flour
1/3 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. butter

Combine dry ingredients thoroughly. Add milk and egg. Cook over boiling water (double boiler) stirring constantly until thickened. Add vanilla and butter. Cool.
