WILTED LETTUCE 
1 lg. head lettuce
1/2 c. water
2 tbsp. heavy cream
1/4 tsp. salt
6 slices bacon, diced
1/4 c. cider vinegar
1 tbsp. sugar

Tear lettuce into pieces into a bowl. Set aside. Fry bacon until crisp in a skillet. Reserve 1/4 cup drippings. Drain bacon on absorbent paper. Set aside. Stir the remaining ingredients into bacon drippings in skillet. Heat mixture just to boiling, stirring constantly. Immediately pour vinegar mixture over the lettuce and toss lightly to coat thoroughly. Top with the bacon. Serves 8.
