BEEF STEW 
1/2 lb. stew meat
A little salt
A little flour
2 tbsp. fat
2 1/2 c. water
5 white potatoes
2 onions
3 carrots
2 tsp. salt

Cut up the 1/2 pound of stew meat or soup meat. Salt the meat. Roll it in flour.

Melt about 2 tablespoons of fat in a pot. Put meat in the hot fat. Brown the meat in it. Turn to low heat. Wait about 5 minutes. Add 1 1/2 cups of water to meat. Cook about 2 hours. Cook until meat is tender.

Peel and chop 5 raw white potatoes. Add potatoes to the pot. Peel and chop 2 medium onions. Add onions to pot. Peel and slice 3 carrots. Add carrots to the pot. Add 1 cup of water and 2 teaspoons of salt. Put lid on pot. Cook until vegetables are done, about 30 minutes. Stir some as it cooks. This recipe makes enough for 6 people.
