FANCY PANTS HAMBURGERS 
1 lb. ground beef
Salt
Pepper
4 slices cheese
1 can tomato sauce
Chopped onion, if desired

Form beef into 8 thin patties. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Lay cheese on 4 patties; sprinkle with chopped onions, if desired; cover with remaining patties.

Pinch edges together to enclose the cheese and onions completely. Brown on one side in hot greased skillet. Turn and pour tomato sauce over them. Simmer 8 to 10 minutes, basting occasionally. Serve piping hot with delicious pan gravy. Sprinkle with oregano if desired. Or surround each patty with a strip of bacon and cook as above until bacon is crispy. Garnish with 1/2 cup sauteed mushrooms.
