HAM AND MACARONI SCALLOP 
1/2 pkg. macaroni (enough for sm. casserole)
1 c. minced ham, diced is o.k.
2 level tbsp. butter
1 level tbsp.f lour
1 c. milk
1/4 level tsp. pepper
3 level tbsp. grated cheese
1/2 c. stale bread crumbs
1 level tbsp. butter

Cook the macaroni in boiling water until tender, which will probably take from 15 to 30 minutes.

Make a sauce by blending the butter and flour smoothly, adding the milk and stirring until the mixture boils; then add the pepper, but no salt, as the ham will sufficiently salt the mixture. Grease a baking dish and place it in alternate layers of macaroni, ham and sauce, sprinkling a little of the cheese over each layer of the macaroni. Melt the other tablespoon of butter, add the crumbs to it and stir until they have absorbed the butter. Spread over the ingredients in the dish and bake until golden brown.
