STEAK AND RICE CASSEROLE 
1-1 1/2 lb. round steak, cut in pieces
Flour for flouring steak
1 onion, chopped
2-3 tbsp. flour
Salt
Pepper
Shortening for browning meat
1 can tomatoes
1/2 c. rice
2 c. hot water

Salt, pepper and flour steak pieces. Sear in hot shortening. Remove meat to bottom of greased casserole. Brown chopped onion in remainder of shortening. Stir in rest of flour (2-3 tablespoons). Add 2 cups of hot water to pan.

Pour 1/2 cup of uncooked rice and 1 can tomatoes over steak. Pour gravy mixture into casserole. Salt and pepper to taste. Bake at 325 degrees for about 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender.
