CHOCOLATE DIPPED ORANGE TWISTS | |
3/4 c. butter 1 c. sugar 1 lg. egg 3 tbsp. freshly grated orange peel 2 3/4 c. sifted all purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. fresh orange juice 6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits 1 c. ground pecans Cream butter until soft. Add sugar gradually until light and fluffy. Add egg and orange peel. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together. Add in three additions, alternating with orange juice. Mix well. Shape dough into three rolls. Wrap in plastic film, or waxed paper; refrigerate at least one hour. Assemble cookie press with decorator tip. Press out a strip of cookie dough onto fingers about 3 to 4 inches long. Grasp each end and twist. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until just starting to turn light brown around the edges. Melt chocolate bits over hot water. Dip one end of cookie twist in chocolate; roll in ground pecans. |
