WILTED LETTUCE WITH BACON 
1 head of lettuce
Salt
2 thick slices of bacon
1 med. onion, sliced
2 tsp. sugar, about
1/4 c. vinegar
1/2 c. water

Wash and drain lettuce. Break into small pieces and place in mixing bowl. Sprinkle with salt and set aside.

Cut bacon into very small cubes and fry slowly until brown. Add sugar and stir. Mix together vinegar and water; add to skillet and bring to a boil.

Shake salty water from lettuce and place lettuce in salad bowl. Pour boiling vinegar-bacon mixture over lettuce. Toss gently. Serve immediately.
