HUSH PUPPIES 
1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 c. cornmeal
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. salt
1 sm. onion, chopped
3/4 c. sweet milk
Oil, for frying

Sift together dry ingredients; add onion and beaten egg and milk, stirring lightly. Drop a teaspoon of batter in hot oil (or fat). Fry a few at a time until golden brown. Turn if necessary. Makes 24. Serve with fish and eat while hot.
