4 egg whites 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1 (6 oz.) pkg. colored mini chips or mint flavored 1 c. broken walnuts, optional Beat egg whites and salt until frothy; beat in cream of tartar. Add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Continue beating until stiff peaks are formed. Fold in the chocolate chips, vanilla and walnuts. (Save some chips to sprinkle on top for colorful cookies.) Drop by small teaspoons onto cookie sheets lined with wax paper. Do not grease. Bake at 300 degrees about 25 minutes. Remove from paper while slightly warm. Makes 6 dozen. |
