1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. fresh sausage
1 c. applesauce
1 c. BBQ sauce or catsup or steak sauce
1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms
1 egg
1 sm. can Durkee's French Fried Onion Rings
Salt, pepper, garlic powder to taste
1 pkg. sliced Mozzarella or Swiss cheese

Mix together all ingredients except for the cheese. After mixing well, shape into a loaf and place in a pan. Pour the rest of the bottle of BBQ sauce over the top. Bake at 400 degrees for 1 hour. (Time varies with different ovens.)

Approximately 5 minutes before the meat loaf is finished, take out of oven and place slices of cheese over the top. Put back in oven 5 minutes until cheese is melted.
