APPLE LADDER LOAF | |
1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed 2 tbsp. soft butter 1/4 c. packed brown sugar 1 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 2 c. finely chopped peeled apples Almonds (optional) Divide bread dough in half. Let dough rest a few minutes and then roll into 8 inch square. Spread each square with 1 tablespoon butter. Make filling, add apples and toss. Spread half of filling down center of each square. Cutting from right edge toward filling, make 2 1/2 inch long cuts in dough at 1 inch intervals. Repeat from left edge. Fold strips alternately over filling; fold under ends. Place in greased 15x10x1 inch pan. Brush with milk. Combine 2 tablespoons flour and 2 tablespoons sugar. Cut in 1 tablespoon butter until it's coarse crumbs. Sprinkle half over each loaf. Top with almonds if wished. Cover and let rise until nearly double, 45 to 60 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden. |
