CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
2/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
2/3 c. soft butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. baking soda

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix thoroughly sugars, eggs and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. For a softer rounded cookie add 1/2 cup flour. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or until light brown. Cool slightly.
