BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
4 qts. sliced unpeeled cucumbers
6 med. onions, sliced
2 green peppers, sliced
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1/3 c. pickling salt
5 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. tumeric
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
2 tbsp. mustard seed
3 c. vinegar

Sprinkle first 4 ingredients with salt, cover with ice and let stand at least 3 hours. Drain. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over cucumber mixture. Heat to a boil. Seal in hot pint jars. Let stand 3 weeks to season properly. Yields 8 pints.
