YANKEE BARBECUED SPARERIBS 
4 lb. meaty pork spareribs
1 lemon, thinly sliced
1 tsp. chili powder
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 c. water
salt and pepper to taste
1 large onion, chopped
1 tsp. celery seed
1/4 c. vinegar or lemon juice
1 c. catsup

Spread ribs, meaty side up, in roasting pan. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Arrange lemon slices on ribs and brown, uncovered in 450°F oven for 45 minutes.

Mix remaining ingredients together to make sauce. Pour over ribs. Reduce heat to 350°F and continue baking for 1 1/2 hours. Do not cover, but baste and turn ribs occasionally. If sauce gets too thick, add a little water.
