STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE 
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 egg
Milk to dampen

Mix dry ingredients, cut in shortening. Add nuts, add egg and milk. Mix by hand. Form flat round cakes on a cookie sheet. (3 inch in diameter, 1/2 inch thick).

Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes until light brown. Best when fresh baked. Add strawberries and whipped cream or ice cream.
