AUNT SANDI'S COFFEE CAKE 
2 egg yolks
1 c. milk
2 c. flour
3/4 c. granulated sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
Dash of salt
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring

Mix or sift dry ingredients together. Add egg yolks and then add milk slowly. Blend well. Add vanilla last. Cook in 2 round layers at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

While cake is hot, punch holes in top of each layer with a fork. Cover well with your favorite jelly. Preserves may be put between layers also. Then beat egg whites until stiff. Add approximately 4 tablespoons sugar to egg white after beaten. Cover cake completely with meringue. Place in 350 degree oven until top is browned.
