YEAST ROLLS 
Dissolve 1 cake or package of yeast into 1/4 cup warm water. Combine:

1/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. scalded milk

Into a large mixing bowl cool mixture with 1/2 cup cold water. Blend in 1 beaten egg and the yeast. Add 3 1/2 cups flour. Stir well. Let rise in a warm place 45-60 minutes. Stir down dough. Spoon into greased muffin tins (or pyrex cups) 1/2 full. Let rise until batter rises to edge of cup and rounded in center about 18 large rolls. Bake at 375 degrees.
