2 pkgs. yeast 1 c. warm water 1 tsp. sugar 1 c. milk, scalded and cooled 1 stick butter, melted 2 eggs 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 7 c. flour 1 tsp. vanilla ICING: 1 box powdered sugar 1/2 c. water 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. vanilla Mix together and cool, then add first part with 2 eggs, 2 teaspoons salt and 6 cups flour. Put in large greased bowl and let rise until double in bulk; punch down. Add 5 1/2 cups more flour. Mix well and let rise again until double in bulk. Roll out, cut with doughnut cutter and deep fry. Makes 80 doughnuts. |
